This May, I performed a play with some amazing improvisors from the hip hop improv group Off Top, produced by Ray Morency. The play was Bigger? Sugar? Figure? by writer Adi Eshman, who did a beautiful job highlighting the surreptitious racism of white liberalism, and the cast included very funny people Kristin Kirkley, Raquel Palmas and Billy Soco (who previously played my boyfriend in Martha Cipolla for President at the PIT). Max Friedman directed. If you ever have a chance (I'm talking to you, musician friends), check out the venue: R&D Studios Bushwood in Ridgewood, Queens (off the Halsey L)!
Learning and performing a whole play in less than 10 days wasn't easy (I was a last minute put-in), but with the support of the rest of the cast and Max, I did it! It was fun to rap on stage again, and a very good thing that my character is not supposed to be particularly great at it... Haha
